A SAFE SPACE TO SHARE YOUR STORY

  • Booking a session is a straightforward process designed to make it easy for you to access the support you deserve. There are 3 different ways that you can book your first session.

    1) Use the booking widget directly on this website. Please keep in mind that the time slot that you choose for the first session will be the time slot you intend to meet with your therapist on a recurring basis.

    2) Fill out the contact form that can be found by clicking on the “CONTACT” button located at the top right of this page.

    3) Call 720-805-8653 or email tori@tellmyuntold.com. You can expect to receive a call/email back within 2 business days.

    Future sessions will be scheduled toward the end of each session.

  • You will be receive an email inviting you to fill out some paperwork shortly after you book your first appointment. Untold Stories Psychotherapy kindly asks that you complete the intake paperwork at least 24-hours prior to your first session.

    By taking the time to fill out these forms in advance, your therapist will be able to come to the first session with an overview of what you are looking to get out of your work together. This valuable information allows your therapist to tailor her approach in an attempt to best support you from the very beginning of treatment. Your cooperation in this important step toward improving your overall well-being and is greatly appreciated!

  • During your first session, you will be warmly welcomed into a safe and confidential space, where you can begin to tell your story.

    Your therapist will take the time to gather relevant background information, including your personal history, current circumstances, and any relevant medical or mental health history. The first session will consist of gaining a thorough understanding of the reason(s) you are seeking therapy, what you hope to get out of participating in sessions, and the best course of action to take to appropriately address your areas of concern.

    Together, you and your therapist will begin to outline a path towards reaching your therapeutic goals, laying the foundation for a collaborative and transformative journey ahead. Your therapist will provide you with an overview of the treatment process, attend to any questions or uncertainties that you may have, and discuss the boundaries of confidentiality and the ethical guidelines that govern the therapeutic relationship.

  • During the next few sessions, you and your therapist will work toward breaking down your overarching goals into a series of short-term goals in an effort to maximize the ability to successfully track your progress over the course of treatment. You and your therapist will work together to meet these goals. This collaborative approach allows for regular review and adjustment of the treatment plan when deemed necessary, ensuring that the therapy remains aligned with your evolving needs.

    There is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, and as such, the length of therapy varies based on a your specific goals, progress, and personal circumstances.

This practice places a priority on guaranteeing that clients receive the personalized and comprehensive support they require, no matter how long or short the journey may be.

4 STAGES OF TREATMENT


Stage 1 - Commitment

In the first stage, there is a mutual commitment between you and your therapist to create an environment that is conducive to attaining long-lasting positive change. These sessions focus on you and your therapist getting to know each other, developing clarity on what you are hoping to get out of treatment, and a board overview of what treatment will consist of. By the end of this stage, you will be encouraged to determine whether or not you feel comfortable with your therapist and the initial therapeutic approach outlined. If either one of you does not believe that this is a “good fit,” she will attempt to refer you to other providers she thinks may be better suited to help you. If you and your therapist decide to continue working together, you will collaboratively construct a treatment plan that will guide the remaining sessions.

Stage 2 - Process

The second stage is the most complex and intricate portion of treatment, encompassing the core of the therapeutic process and the therapeutic relationship. The therapist will be getting to know more about you than just your presenting concerns. At this point in treatment, your therapist will continue to collect information that will assist your therapist in effectively tailoring the work you and her are doing together to accurately account for your unique needs and circumstances, leading to more personalized care. A variety of therapeutic modalities and interventions may be employed to expose you to applicable tools and techniques that you can familiarize yourself with to make tremendous strides toward your goals for treatment. This stage also involves gaining insight into your inner world, lived experiences, and current challenges in order to facilitate change.

Stage 3 - Change

The third stage marks the culmination and success of your active participation in treatment. You will encounter a considerable reduction in the negative consequences you are experiencing as a result of the concerns that initially led you to seek mental health services. You will be able to carry out meaningful changes to the way you think, feel, and behave that will help you manage and eliminate your presenting concern(s). The importance of execution during this stage cannot be overstated. While acquiring greater understanding and further insight are crucial, it is the translation of these revelations into practical, actionable steps that truly makes growth and change possible. Through effective execution, you are able to utilize new perspectives and ways of coping on a regular basis, leading to sustainable progress and transformation.

Stage 4 - Termination

In the final stage, you "graduate" from treatment, signifying mutual recognition of autonomy and independence between you and your therapist. You able to grant yourself permission and agency to successfully apply what you have gotten out of treatment on your own accord. This stage focuses on reviewing the past two stages: Process and Change. Termination is a natural part of treatment. It provides you with an opportunity to discuss your growth in great detail, recognize the way(s) in which the stories you tell have transformed, pinpoint additional room for improvement within pre-established areas of concern, and come up with an action plan for integrating the work you have accomplished over the course of treatment into the next chapter of your life. This stage can ensure a smooth transition that supports you in maintaining and continuing progress post-treatment.
